The Velocity of Form
“Art exists where the predictability of form ends and the physical urgency of raw material takes over.”

Biography & Direction
Arshad is an independent contemporary artist working between physical extremes—from sculptural electric-blue impasto to spontaneous, unrestrained calligraphic monochrome ink. Grounded in abstract expressionism and avant-garde chiaroscuro, each work investigates emotional turbulence and tactile presence.
Working without preliminary drawings, each canvas begins as a dynamic encounter between physical gesture and visceral resistance. Paint is not treated as a colorant, but as an architectural substance—sculpted, gouged, and allowed to retain the violent deceleration of the body.
“Painting is not representation; it is a physical confrontation with silence. By layering thick, dimensional pigments of electric blue against midnight charcoal, or slashing raw linen with unmediated black gestures, I surrender intention to the visceral gravity of the paint itself.”
Three Pillars of Practice
Electric-Blue Impasto
Dense, sculptural ridges of high-viscosity oil and saturated electric pigment (#2764FF). Carved with heavy steel palette knives to catch ambient gallery light and cast real physical shadows.
Monochrome Chiaroscuro
High-contrast figurative portraiture descending into psychological abstraction. Charcoal, rough gesso impasto, and mineral washes interrogating presence, silence, and human vulnerability.
Kinetic Black Ink
Spontaneous, unrestrained calligraphic strokes executed in single continuous sessions. Inspired by Japanese sho calligraphy and abstract expressionism on raw unprimed Belgian canvas.
